Manohar Rajan PROFILE

Manohar Rajan is a coach & consultant based in Chennai, India. The road that led here was diverse, with a mixture of senior corporate leadership roles is Wall Street investment banks, as an entrepreneur. The locations are also diverse with the first 25 years the U.S. and Europe and the last 10 in South Asia.

Manohar’s practice ranges from one on one coaching engagements, leadership workshops, assessment centers and development programs. He is a partner with Right management for Career coaching, with the School of Inspired Leadership for Executive Coaching, a mentor for young entrepreneurs at 1Crowd, a crowd funding venture and Chief mentor at Saga Consulting for coaching and assessment and development workshops. Some of the areas have been in preparing for transition to new role, delegation, assertiveness, emotional moderation and start-up skills. He has completed more than 50 assignments in the last 3 years. He is also advisor to the Director of Kalakshetra and the Director of St. Thomas hospital.

He graduated from IIT Delhi in 1978 and obtained a post-graduate diploma from XLRI, Jamshedpur in 1981. Starting his career as a systems programmer on to senior corporate executive roles in New York’s financial district , providing cutting edge technology solutions to some of the biggest Wall Street banks - Senior Vice President at Lehman brothers & Merrill Lynch, Director at Swiss Banking Corporation . The entrepreneurial bug bit in 2000, riding on the back of the dotcom bubble and the next stop was founding a technology venture specializing in data analytics and predictive modeling which was acquired by a large IT firm three years later.

The next 5 years until 2008, were as management consultant to Lehman Brothers in starting to set up their own technology subsidiaries India and the decision to settle in India followed this experience. Next were senior leadership positions in Indian service subsidiaries of banks - Senior Vice President at SCOPE International and Morgan Stanley, India. The focus shifted to people development at all levels and obtained certification from CFI in executive coaching by CFI in 2014 and has been engaged in people development full time since January 2016.

Manohar is active in the Pan IIT alumni community. As a member of the IIT Alumni Industry Interaction Center, he moderates a Financial Technology Round Table which aims to create an eco-system where academia, industry, start-ups can come together. He stays close to the latest developments in Information Technology and is the India director for KNTX Trading solutions, a subsidiary of a US company providing advanced technology solutions for global banks in trading and risk management.
